How Much Does Shop Signage Cost in Dubai? A 2026 Price Guide

Logos Advertising LLC — 3D Signage in Dubai (6)

If you have asked three signage companies in Dubai for a price and received three wildly different numbers, you are not being misled. Signage is quoted per project, and the same shopfront can legitimately cost AED 4,000 or AED 40,000 depending on how it is lit, what it is made from and where it sits. This guide breaks down what you are actually paying for, what the market typically charges in 2026, and what a fair quote should contain.

What actually drives the cost of signage in Dubai

1. Size, and specifically square footage

Almost every signage type is priced per square foot or per running foot of letter height. Doubling the height of your letters roughly quadruples the material area, which is why a modest increase in size produces a large jump in price.

2. Whether it is illuminated, and how

A flat, non-lit acrylic logo is the cheapest option on any shopfront. Front-lit LED letters cost more. Halo-lit or backlit letters, where the light washes the wall behind the letter, cost the most, because the fabrication is more involved and the mounting has to be precise.

3. Material and build quality

Acrylic, aluminium composite, stainless steel and channelium all behave differently in Dubai conditions. Cheap acrylic yellows under UV within a couple of seasons. Poorly sealed LED modules fail early in humidity. The cheapest quote is frequently the one you replace first.

4. Location and installation difficulty

A ground-floor shopfront in a strip mall is straightforward. A sign three storeys up, over a live pavement, needing a scissor lift and a night-work permit, is not. Access, working hours and traffic management are real line items.

5. Approvals

Government approval is not optional for exterior signage, and it is not free. Budget for it separately from fabrication.

Permits and approvals: the cost nobody quotes you upfront

Exterior signage in Dubai needs approval before it goes up. Which authority depends on where you are:

  • Dubai Municipality handles most city areas through its advertising permit system.
  • Trakhees covers DP World zones including JAFZA, Dubai South and Palm Jumeirah.
  • RTA sign-off is needed where a sign is visible from a public road.
  • DEWA approval applies to anything electrically powered or illuminated.

A typical submission needs your trade licence, a landlord or developer no objection certificate, a facade photograph, a scaled drawing in metric units and a render. Two requirements catch people out. First, Arabic text must be given equal or greater prominence than English on commercial signage, so bilingual layout has to be designed in from the start rather than bolted on. Second, structural calculations for wind load are expected on larger installations.

Realistically, a straightforward shopfront sign clears approval in four to eight weeks. Illuminated signs and anything needing RTA sign-off sit at the longer end. Build that into your opening date.

What a proper signage quote should include

  • Exact dimensions and material specification, not just “3D letters”
  • Lighting type, LED brand and power supply rating
  • Whether approval submission and government fees are included or excluded
  • Installation method, access equipment and working hours
  • Warranty period, and what it actually covers
  • Lead time from approved artwork to installed sign

If a quote is one line and one number, ask for it itemised. The gap between two quotes usually lives in the detail, not the headline price.

Where businesses overspend, and where they should not save

Overspending usually comes from oversizing. Municipality rules cap sign size relative to facade anyway, and a well-proportioned sign in good materials reads better than a larger one in cheap ones.

The places not to economise are the LED modules and power supply, the sealing and weatherproofing, and the installation. Those three are what separate a sign that still looks right in year five from one that is half-lit by the second summer.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a shop sign take from order to installation?

Fabrication is typically one to three weeks. Approval is the long pole, at roughly four to eight weeks. Start the approval process as early as you can.

Do I need Arabic on my shop sign in Dubai?

For commercial signage, yes in most cases, and the Arabic must be at least as prominent as the English. Design for it from the outset.

Is neon or LED neon cheaper?

LED neon is usually cheaper to run and far more robust, and it has largely replaced glass neon for commercial use. Glass neon still has a look that flexible LED does not quite replicate.

Can you handle the approvals for me?

Yes. We prepare and submit the drawings and documentation as part of the project.
